Postlewait Strikes, Hudd Shuts the Door in Panthers’ 1-0 Win

HAMMOND, Ind. — Davenport University battled through a gritty matchup to earn a 1-0 road victory over Purdue Northwest on Friday at Pepsi Field. The Panthers broke through in the second half thanks to Maxamillian Postlewait's decisive goal, while goalkeeper Beau Hudd anchored the defense with three clutch saves to secure the shutout. Despite a flurry of 14 shots from the Pride, Davenport's backline stayed locked in to preserve the win.

Both sides went into halftime scoreless after a tense first 45 minutes filled with missed chances and defensive stands. Davenport nearly took the lead in the 16th minute, but Postlewait's penalty attempt was turned away, keeping the match level. Hudd stood tall in net, turning away dangerous looks from Landon Potts and Rami Hassan to keep Purdue Northwest off the board, while the Panthers fired eight shots of their own before the break.

Davenport finally capitalized in the 72nd minute when Postlewait redeemed his earlier miss, slotting home the lone goal off a crisp assist from Charlie Davis to give the Panthers the advantage. The Pride continued to press late, but Davenport's defense absorbed the pressure and closed out the clean sheet with composure.

For Purdue Northwest, Rami Hassan Zantout led the attack with six shots, including two on target, while Potts added four attempts and one on frame. Goalkeeper Mateus Baptista de Souza played the full 90 minutes, making three saves against 15 shots faced.

Postlewait finished with the game-winner and two shots on target, while Davis provided the assist and added a shot on goal. Hudd anchored the defense with three saves en route to the shutout, continuing Davenport's strong form on the road.

Davenport will continue its road stretch on Sunday, Oct. 26, when the Panthers travel to Chicago, Ill., to take on Roosevelt. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET.
