Preview: Panthers Prep for First Road GLIAC Contests of the Season

GRAND RAPIDS. Mich. - Following seven consecutive home matches, the Davenport University women's volleyball team will play its first road conference matches of the season this weekend. The Panthers (6-5, 3-1 GLIAC) will play Roosevelt on Friday and Parkside on Saturday (Oct. 4). 

Through four GLIAC contests, the Panthers are tied for second place in the conference standings. 

Madison Berry leads the GLIAC in assists per set (11.0), which ranks 10th across NCAA Division II. Hayley Carr is second in the conference in digs per set at 4.78. Leading the way for DU in kills (140) and aces (18) is Abby Alan, also ranking inside the top-five in both of those categories in the conference.

About the Lakers
  • In their first season as a part of the GLIAC and NCAA Division II in 2024, the Lakers finished 4-23 overall and 2-14 in GLIAC play.
  • Only win of the season came against Kentucky Wesleyan on Sept. 6, coming away with a 3-1 win in Springfield, Ill. 
  • Alessia Isgro leads the squad in kills with 89 on the year while averaging 2.12 per set. 
  • Zoe Hutchinson has orchestrated the offense in 2025 with 150 assists to lead the Lakers.
  • Picked to finish 11th in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

About the Rangers
  • Last season, the Rangers finished 11-17 overall and 7-9 in conference play. Fell 3-1 to Northern Michigan in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament. 
  • Returned the reigning GLIAC Defensive Player of the Year Natalie Harris, who was also a First Team All-Conference performer as a sophomore. 
  • Started this season 9-0, the best start in program history since joining NCAA Division II. 
  • As a team, the Rangers rank second in the conference in assists per set (12.66), service aces per set (2.14) and digs per set (17.30).
  • Harris leads the conference in digs per set (5.68) and total digs (250). Her digs per set also rank sixth across NCAA Division II. 
  • Picked to finish sixth in the GLIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.
