Panthers Return Home for Midweek Matchup with #15 FSU

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -  The Davenport University volleyball team is set for its third match in five days, hosting No. 15 Ferris State at the DU Student Center on Tuesday at 6 p.m. The Panthers (7-6, 4-2 GLIAC) split their two games this past weekend, taking down Roosevelt on Friday (Oct. 3) before falling to Parkside on Saturday (Oct. 4). 

Hayley Carr currently ranks second in the conference in total digs (216) and third in service aces (19). 

Madison Berry has continued her dominance at the setter position, leading the conference in assists per set (10.61), which also ranks 16th across NCAA Division II.

About the Team
  • Finished last season 34-1 overall and a perfect 17-0 in GLIAC play. Fell to Bentley in the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals 3-2. Head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm was named the National Coach of the Year. Lost National Player of the Year Olivia-Henneman-Dallape to graduation.
  • Gabby Piazza is the top returner from last season after being named the 2024 GLIAC Freshman of the Year. She currently leads the team in kills (189) and kills per set (3.94)
  • As a team, the Bulldogs lead the conference in total kills (664), kills per set (13.77) and digs per set (17.94).
  • Enter the weekend on a three-match winning streak, taking down Roosevelt, Parkside and Wayne State in those contests. Their only conference loss of the season came to nationally-ranked Grand Valley State on Sept. 26.
  • Currently No. 15 in the AVCA National Rankings.
