GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport University football concluded the 2025 season last Saturday and today learned that 14 student-athletes have made the GLIAC postseason awards list. The Panthers had three recipients on the First Team All-GLIAC list, six named Second Team All-GLIAC, and five who earned Honorable Mention All-GLIAC.
FIRST TEAM ALL-GLIAC
Cephus Harris (Junior, Running Back, Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley)
- Rushed for a single-season Davenport record 1,096 yards on 158 attempts
- Scored 19 rushing touchdowns, which was the single-season school record and the career record. He also led the GLIAC in rushing touchdowns and was third in Division II.
- Led the GLIAC in yards per carry (6.94) and scoring with 11.6 points per game
- Ranked second in the conference in rushing yards and rushing yards per game (109.6)
- Rushed for over 100 yards in six games, including a school-record 185 against No. 1 Ferris State on Nov. 15
- Tied the single-game rushing touchdown mark with four at Wayne State on Oct. 18
- Had the longest run in school history of 87 yards against Roosevelt on Oct. 25
- Caught 19 passes for 144 yards
Austin Stief (Junior, Defensive Lineman, Orlando, Fla./Cypress Creek)
- Elevated his game after being Honorable Mention All-GLIAC in 2024
- Played in all 10 games and totaled 34 tackles, including 15 solo
- Finished with 8.5 tackles for a loss of 45 yards, including 2.5 sacks for a loss of 14 yards, and ranked in the top-10 in the GLIAC
- Forced a fumble at Northern Michigan on Sept. 20
- Recorded a season-high seven tackles against Northern Michigan on Nov. 8
- Registered five tackles including 1.5 sacks against Saginaw Valley State on Nov. 1
- Notched five tackles and three tackles for a loss of 25 yards against Michigan Tech on Oct. 11
Vincent Cooley (Redshirt Junior, Defensive Back, Detroit, Mich./Edison)
- Played in the final nine games of the season
- Tallied 12 tackles, including 10 solo
- Recorded two interceptions for 24 return yards and ranked eighth in the conference in interceptions per game
- Registered a season-high three tackles against Ferris State and recovered a fumble with a five-yard return
- Intercepted a pass and returned it 27 yards for a score in the win over Roosevelt (Oct. 25)
- Broke up four passes, including two against Grand Valley State (Oct. 4)
SECOND TEAM ALL-GLIAC
Keonta Nixon (Redshirt Junior, Wide Receiver, Chicago, Ill./Lake Park)
- Earned First Team All-GLIAC last season at Roosevelt
- Led the team with 26 receptions and totaled 536 receiving yards, which is sixth for a season at Davenport
- Led the conference with 20.62 yards per reception, which was also 14th in Division II
- Caught four touchdown passes, with a season-long 50 yards for a score at Wayne State
- Ranked sixth in the GLIAC in receiving yards and fifth in receiving yards per game
- Posted a season-high 115 receiving yards with a score on three catches against Saginaw Valley State
Zach Slapnicker (Grad Student, Offensive Line, Chesterland, Ohio/West Geauga)
- Improved on his status as Honorable Mention All-GLIAC last season
- Force at right tackle who started in all 10 games
- Started in 21 straight games since coming to Davenport
- Helped pave the way for 1,973 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns as a team
- Part of a unit that allowed the third fewest sacks per game in the GLIAC (1.3)
Armony Baskin (Senior, Offensive Line, Grand Rapids, Mich./Kenowa Hills)
- Provided a solid bookend with Slapnicker at left tackle
- Started in all 10 games and has 15 straight starts dating back to last season
- Helped pave the way for 1,973 rushing yards and 29 rushing touchdowns as a team
- Part of a unit that allowed the third fewest sacks per game in the GLIAC (1.3)
Kennedy Nelson (Senior, Defensive Line, Raleigh, N.C./Wakefield)
- Started in all 10 games on the interior defensive line
- Led the team with 12.5 tackles for a loss of 63 yards, and was third in the GLIAC
- Led the team with five sacks for a loss of 39 yards, and was second in the GLIAC
- Registered a total of 43 tackles (21 solo) with three QB hurries, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and one blocked kick
- Tied for the GLIAC lead in fumble recoveries
- Recorded a season-high 10 tackles against Northern Michigan on Nov. 8
- Tallied seven tackles including three tackles for loss against Saginaw Valley State
Diamond Evans (Grad Student, Defensive Back, Orland Park, Ill./Nazareth Academy)
- Started in all 10 games at cornerback
- Finished the season with 17 tackles, including 10 solo stops
- Had four tackles and one interception against Michigan Tech
- Broke up two passes with one each against Roosevelt and Ferris State
Markell Gilford (Redshirt Sophomore, Defensive Back, Detroit, Mich./River Rouge)
- Played in all 10 games and made seven starts in the secondary
- Finished the season with 35 tackles, including 24 solo stops
- Led the team with three interceptions for 101 return yards
- Earned GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors against Gannon with five tackles and a school-record 100-yard interception return for a TD
- Recorded five tackles and returned a fumble 68 yards for a score against Ferris State
- Tallied six tackles and an interception at Northern Michigan
- Had three tackles and a forced fumble at home against Northern Michigan
HONORABLE MENTION ALL-GLIAC
Kayden Collins (Junior, Running Back, Canoga Park, Calif./Canoga Park)
- Played in all 10 games and made two starts against Wayne State and Roosevelt
- Rushed 61 times for a total of 334 yards to rank second on the team
- Scored three rushing touchdowns and also caught 11 passes for 71 yards
- Accumulated 61 rushing yards and a TD against Roosevelt
- Had a season-high 89 rushing yards and a touchdown at Grand Valley State
George Sims (Redshirt Junior, Wide Receiver, Racine, Wis./Horlick)
- Played in all 10 games and made eight starts
- Led the team with 12 kick returns for 363 yards
- Recorded an 87-yard kick return for a touchdown against Roosevelt and totaled 139 kick return yards on three attempts to earn GLIAC Special Teams Player of the Week
- Hauled in 24 passes for 296 yards and ranked second on the team in both categories
- Rushed five times for 34 yards
- Ranked second on the team with 693 all-purpose yards
Clint Walker (Redshirt Junior, Tight End, Goshen, Ind./Northridge)
- Started in all 10 games and rounded out into one of the best tight ends in the league
- Caught 13 passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns
- Hauled in a four-yard touchdown pass against Roosevelt and Saginaw Valley State
- Registered three catches for 52 yards at Wayne State
- Carried the ball nine times for 73 yards and had a rushing touchdown against Northern Michigan
Reed Snitker (Grad Student, Defensive Line, Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead)
- Played in all 10 games and made eight starts
- Recorded 22 total tackles with five solo
- Notched 3.5 tackles for a loss of 12 yards
- Tallied five tackles in the win over Northern Michigan on Sept. 20
- Forced a fumble and added a tackle for loss versus Northern Michigan on Nov. 8
Latrell Scott (Redshirt Junior, Linebacker, Chicago, Ill./Simeon Academy)
- Played in all 10 games and made nine starts
- Led the team with 70 tackles and ranked seventh in the GLIAC
- His 70 tackles ranks 10th in a season at Davenport
- Recorded four tackles for a loss of 11 yards and had one pass breakup and half a sack
- Totaled a season-high 11 tackles at Truman State and versus Roosevelt
