GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The No. 25 Davenport ACHA Division I men's hockey team dropped a pair of 4-0 games against No. 5 Adrian on Thursday in Adrian and Friday in Grand Rapids during GL6 conference action.

The Bulldogs played incredible defense against the Panthers who had been shutout just one other time this season before these two contests. Adrian showed why they are a title contender with a fast-paced attack which resulted in 47 shots on goal on Thursday night at Arrington Ice Arena. Matteo Turrin scored a pair of goals including a power-play goal at 16:05 of the first period as part of a two-goal first period for Adrian. The Bulldogs then scored twice in the third period just 20 seconds apart at 7:05 by Carter McLeod and 7:25 by Turrin, who scored his 14th goal of the season. Kyler Lowden stopped 43-of-47 shots for the Panthers.

The return trip to Patterson Ice Center yielded the same result, but the Panthers were able to manage 24 shots on goal, including 13 in the first period. DU took five minor penalties and the Bulldogs scored once on the power play. The Panthers were 0-for-2 on the man advantage.

Sebastian Smith scored twice for AC to increase his season goal total to 14. Keegan Decaluwe scored the team's power-play goal at 13:05 of the first period as AC led 2-0 after one period. Marc-Antoine Belzile scored his third goal of the season at 13:20 of the second period and Smith's second goal came at 14:01 of the third period. Turrin continued his solid weekend with two assists. Reid Ramsay got the start in goal and stopped 36-of-40 shots for Davenport.

The task doesn't get much easier as DU will travel to No. 12 Hope College on Saturday for a 7:30 PM contest at Griff's Icehouse West.
