Panthers conclude regular season with losses to No. 11 Calvin

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The regular season concluded this past weekend for the men's ACHA Division I hockey team after a pair of losses to No. 11 Calvin. The Panthers wrap up the regular season with a 17-18 overall record and will now focus their attention to the GL6 Tournament where they will play on the road at Purdue Northwest on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 8 PM ET.

Calvin was able to win 5-3 on home ice at Eagles Ice Center on Friday, Feb. 14 and then came into Patterson Ice Center on Saturday, Feb. 15 for a 4-1 victory on DU's senior night festivities. The Panthers honored seven seniors playing in their final home game and that includes Heath Drye, Nathan Gauthier, Austin Melone, Tyler Kaminski, Robert McLaughlin, Kristers Klavins and Justin Turner.

The Knights got five goals from five different players on Friday night against the Panthers. Daniel Siso, Holden Pratt, Steven Ickes, Tony Eaton, and Owen Schrader were the Knight players to score a goal. The Knights scored twice on the power play in five tries and the last goal by Schrader was into an empty net with 33 seconds remaining. Davenport got scoring from McLaughlin at 9:28 of the second period for his ninth goal of the season. Brendan Bauer scored unassisted at 9:13 of the third period. Ryder McMillen tied the game up at 3 at the 10:02 mark of the third period with his 17th goal of the season from Turner. The Panthers went 0-for-3 on the power play in the game. Kyler Lowden made 34 saves in the contest for the Panthers.

Calvin once again spread out their scoring in Saturday's victory. Lou Vesperini, Joel Fonovic, Krzysztof Petryla, and Pratt found the back of the net for the Knights. Ryder McMillen scored the lone goal for Davenport at 13:17 of the second period on the power play from Klavins and Bauer to make it a 2-1 deficit. Pratt's sixth goal of the season came on an empty net situation at 18:36 of the third period. Gauthier is his final home game made 34 saves in net for DU.
