PUEBLO, Colo. - There was a battle on Thursday afternoon against a pair of teams looking for their first win of the 2025 season between Davenport and CSU-Pueblo. The Panthers left no doubt on the field with a convincing 21-6 victory over the Thunderwolves on their home turf. Davenport pitched a shutout in the first quarter and led 6-0.
Jenna Gillis assisted on three of those goals and
Gabby Basha scored twice in the first quarter.
Theadora Krueger started the scoring with a man-up goal at 12:39.
Alyssa Bird,
Mika Kulynych, and
Blakely Malpass also scored in the quarter.
The lead would grow to 9-0 in the second quarter before the Thunderwolves could stop the run. Kulynych,
Maddy Haynes, and Basha with the hat trick at 8:34 left in the quarter built the nine-goal lead. CSU-Pueblo would score the next three goals including two from Sydney Gunnels with a man-up goal mixed in at 5:01. The Panthers would take an 11-4 lead into halftime as Bird and Haynes scored again and Gunnels got her hat trick on a second man-up goal at 2:32.
Davenport scored the first six goals of the third quarter to put the game away.
Addison Roe scored her first collegiate goal at 3:55 of the quarter and
Brianna Rodriguez scored at 1:38 for the 17-4 advantage. In the fourth quarter,
Lauryn Hansen,
Ali-Ray Hanlon (man-up), and
Ava Clark all scored their first career goals for the Panthers. The total shots favored the Panthers 34-10 including 28-7 on goal. Davenport was also 8-of-10 on free position shots.
Jade Remacle led the team with four draw controls out of 16 as a team. Kulynych, Basha, and Haynes each scored three goals each. Krueger finished with two goals and two assists. Haynes also led the team with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Zoe Cassell got the win in goal playing 49:53 and made one save.
Rachel Livak faced one shot on goal in her 10:07 of action in goal. Next up will be a neutral site contest on Saturday, Mar. 1 against Fort Lewis in Denver, Colo. at Colorado Academy Athletic Field. Fort Lewis is 0-2 overall this season after losses to Saint Michael's College and Dominician University, both located in California.
