Cordero Nets Career-High Five Goals Against Griffins

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Redshirt sophomore Seve Cordero notched a career-high five goals as the Davenport University men's lacrosse team fell 18-10 on Sunday (March 9) at Lewis Stadium.

Two minutes into the game, Charlie Fritz found Cordero who then scored his first goal of the game for the Panthers (0-5, 1-0 G-MAC), tying the score at one apiece. The Griffins (2-3, 0-0 R-MAC) responded with three unanswered, going ahead 4-1.

Reece Meech scored the first goal of his career to put a halt to the Griffin's run with 7:15 remaining in the opening period.

Trailing by six (12-6) in the closing stages of the first half, Jayden Ashley and Luke Fritz each found the back of the net in the final minute of the opening half, trimming the deficit to four (12-8).

Both offenses slowed down the second half, but the Panthers were unable to mount a comeback and were out-scored 6-2 in the final 30 minutes.

Antonio Hart played the entire game in the net for DU, notching 15 saves in 60 minutes of action.

Offensively, Ashley finished the game with two goals and an assist for Davenport. Meech, Ty Woods and Luke Fritz all added one goal in the loss for the Panthers.
