Prasnjak Lights Up Bulldogs in Wednesday Sweep

CALEDONIA, Mich. - Ally Prasnjak batted a perfect 6-for-6 in two games of action for the Davenport University softball team to lead the Panthers to a pair of victories over Ferris State on Wednesday (March 26). 

Game One
Result: W, 6-4
How it Happened
Trailing by one run (4-3) with two runners on base and two outs out the board, Prasnjak stepped into the box and hit a walkoff three run home run to give the Panthers (13-13, 4-2 GLIAC) the 6-4 victory.

Davenport scored all six of its runs in the final inning. Peyton Smith opened the inning with a double to center field, followed by a double from Grace Gilbert, which brought Smith home.

A two-RBI double by Kailyne Luna brought home Amanda Pay and Gilbert, which put the Panthers down by one run and set up the Prasnjak game-winning homer.

Prasnjak finished a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, adding three RBIs, a home run and a double. Smith Luna and Gilbert also chipped in with one double apiece.

In the circle, Hailey Whisman got the win, pitching all seven innings. The Sophomore allowed only two earned runs and moved to 7-5 on the season.

Game Two
Result: W, 7-5
How it Happened
It was another late-game offensive explosion for DU, registering six hits and four runs in the sixth inning to secure the win.

Opening the inning was Prasnjak with a single toward the shortstop. On the ensuing at-bat, Alaina Schwanke hit one over the fence, putting Davenport ahead 5-4 over the Bulldogs (12-8, 1-3 GLIAC). 

Smith doubled on the next at-bat, followed by yet another double, this time from Darby Kramp, which allowed Smith to score and push the advantage to two (6-4). Hannah Mauer scored the final run of the game for DU, as she was brought in by a single from Gilbert. 

Hannah Tahaney pitched all seven innings in the circle for Davenport, securing three strikeouts.

Leading the way for the Panthers' offense was Prasnjak with three hits and a pair of RBIs. Schwanke ended with two hits, four RBIs and one run scored, while Smith, Savanna Disbrow and Luna all finished with a hit and a run scored.

The Panthers will host Grand Valley State on Saturday (March 29), at 1 p.m. at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex in Caledonia, Mich.
