Panthers compete in Last Chance meets

The Davenport track and field teams had a select group of student-athletes that went to various meets over the last couple of days in the attempt to qualify for the upcoming NCAA Division II National Championships in Pueblo, Colorado.

Here are the results of those recent efforts:

Hillsdale Last Chance Meet Len Paddock Open (University of Michigan)
  • The men's 4x100 relay crossed the finish line at 41.52 and placed fourth.
  • Bryce Albrecht claimed fourth place in the pole vault and did hit the NCAA provisional mark at 16' 1.25".
St. Francis Fighting Chance Invite
  • Ella Baryo finished second in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 10:32.07 and hit the provisional mark. She set a new PR and broke her old school record of 10:38.63 set nine days ago at the GLIAC Championships. She is currently 16th in Division II and has a good chance of making the national meet.
  • Nik Shilling placed eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 1:53.77.
  • Luke Oyster ran eighth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:59.03 to set a new PR.
  • Garrett Melling also finished eighth in the 3,000 steeplechase with a time of 9:25.00.
Grand Valley State Last Chance Meet
  • Julia Tuuri competed in the 100 meters and 200 meters. She would finish third in both events with a 11.93 in the 100 meters and 24.42 in the 200 meters.
  • Malcolm Earvin raced to second place in the 100 meters in a time of 10.56.
  • Bryce Albrecht placed fourth in the pole vault and hit the provisional mark at 16' 2.75". He is currently 34th in Division II.
