GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Trailing 3-1 in the third period of the home opener, the men's ACHA DI team rallied with the game's final three goals in a span of 2:31 for a thrilling 4-3 win over Northwood. The Timberwolves were able to take yesterday's game 2-1 in overtime in Midland and looked like they were going to sweep the weekend series. Not so fast said the Panthers as
Brendan Bauer started the comeback with goals at 17:07 on the power play and 19:01 to tie things up. It took just 37 seconds later with 22 seconds left on the clock when
Branwen Pollett found himself wide open in front of the net and buried the game-winning goal with assists from
Peter Stojcevski and
Dylan Jouppi.
The scoring started at 4:41 of the first period as
Matt Carlson got his first as a Panther from Bauer and
Robert McLaughlin. After a scoreless second period, Alex Bedenko tied the game at 3:09 of the third period on the power play from Adam Moule. Bedenko needed just seconds later to give NU a 2-1 lead from Colin March. Owen Croston, who scored the game winner yesterday for Northwood, gave them the 3-1 lead at 7:56 from Chase Temple.
Peter Baldwin and
Kyler Lowden battled it out between the pipes. Baldwin got the start for NU after Mason Matthew got the win last night and made 20 saves. Lowden started his second straight game for Davenport and made 19 saves to get the win.Â
