CALEDONIA, Mich. — Davenport University and Truman State University ended in a 1-1 draw Thursday at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. Both teams scored in the second half, with Davenport leveling in the late stages to secure the tie. Each team recorded four shots on goal, and goalkeepers from both sides combined for six saves, preventing any further scoring.
The first half featured a defensive battle with both teams unable to break the deadlock. Davenport's Bailey Gauthier stood firm in goal, making crucial saves, including a significant stop in the 45th minute against Elizabeth Semerau's attempt at the bottom right corner. Claire Breault and Ella Chatfield each tested the Bulldogs' goalkeeper, Siman Loethen, but were unable to convert their chances, leaving the score tied at 0-0.
The second half began with a strategic push from Davenport, highlighted by Sofia Capoccia's crucial goal in the 67th minute to put the home team ahead. Despite Davenport's efforts and a few disciplinary issues, Truman St. leveled the score with a goal by Lia Quintero in the 85th minute, resulting in a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation. Quintero's goal was also significant as it was the first goal for the Bulldogs in the 2025 season.
