CALEDONIA, Mich. — Thomas More edged Davenport University 1-0 on Sunday at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex, during a day that celebrated Davenport University Men's Soccer Alumni in the Alumni Game. The decisive goal came in the second half, despite Davenport putting seven shots on target. Thomas More's goalkeeper recorded a shutout with seven saves, securing the win for the visitors.
The first half began with the Panthers' defense effectively holding the line as Beau Hudd made an early save against Thomas More in the fifth minute. Despite multiple shooting attempts from the Panthers, including efforts from Austin Hall and Drew Matyunas, Thomas More's goalkeeper, Diogo Cardoso, denied each shot, keeping the score level. The Panthers' defensive efforts were highlighted by Hudd's crucial save in the 33rd minute, maintaining a scoreless draw at the end of the half.
The second half began with a tense defensive battle, as both teams sought to break the deadlock. Hudd made a crucial save in the 53rd minute, denying a bottom-center shot from Xavier Munro. Despite multiple attempts on goal, including a close effort from Easton Lopez in the 75th minute, the Panthers could not find the back of the net. Thomas More broke through in the 82nd minute with a goal by Ramzi Termanini, assisted by Nick Phyllis, securing a 1-0 victory for the visitors.
Hudd recorded five saves in goal while facing 15 shots, allowing only one goal against. Lopez led the team in offensive pressure with three shots, two of which were on target. Hall contributed defensively with three shots overall and one on goal. Aidan Orth provided additional offensive efforts with two shots, one of which was on goal.
