Root Rolls to 131 Title as Panthers Shine in Alma

ALMA, Mich. — Davenport women's wrestling delivered a strong performance on the mats, led by a championship run from Olivia Root, who claimed the 131-pound title with a perfect day in the bracket.

Root opened the tournament with a dominant 46-second fall in the quarterfinals and followed with another pin in 2:21 during the semifinals. In the championship match, she controlled the action and earned a 4–1 decision, finishing the day 3–0 with two falls and a decision to secure first place at 131 pounds.

The Panthers also saw success across multiple weight classes. Jordan Milanowski fought through the 145-pound bracket to earn a fifth-place finish, recording three falls along the way. At 138 pounds, Ava Niedzielski advanced to the championship bout after a technical fall in the quarterfinals and a pin in the semifinals, finishing the day as the runner-up.

Davenport rounded out the tournament with additional appearances throughout the lineup, gaining valuable mat time against regional competition as the Panthers continue to build momentum heading deeper into the season.
