Niedzielski Earns GLVC Sportsmanship Honor as Panthers Conclude Season

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. With the 2025-26 campaign coming to an end for the Davenport women's wrestling team, a group of Panthers consistently contributed in competition throughout the season, including Olivia Root, Ava Niedzielski, Jordan Milanowski, Libia Hernandez, and Fevin Coleman.

Niedzielski Honored for Sportsmanship
Niedzielski was honored with the GLVC James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. The recognition is presented to student-athletes who distinguish themselves through exceptional sportsmanship and ethical behavior during competition. Honorees must also be in good academic standing and demonstrate strong citizenship outside of the athletic arena. Niedzielski is now eligible to be selected as one of the institution's two Spalding Sportsmanship Award winners, which will be announced at the end of the academic year.

NCAA Women's Region IV
The Panthers competed in NCAA Women's Region IV, which consisted of Adrian College, Albion College, Alma College, Aurora University, Elmhurst University, Grand Valley State University, Heidelberg University, Hiram College, Illinois Wesleyan University, John Carroll University, Manchester University, Mount Union, North Central College, Northern Michigan University, Otterbein University, Tiffin University, and Trine University.

Several Panthers produced notable performances throughout the season against Region IV competition. Root highlighted the group with multiple victories, including several wins by fall and technical fall while advancing deep into tournament brackets. Hernandez also recorded strong outings at 160 pounds, earning both a technical fall and a pin in tournament competition. Milanowski added offensive scoring with a quick fall and a technical fall victory during the season, while Coleman contributed key wins at 180 pounds with a pair of pins across tournament events. Niedzielski also competed consistently for the Panthers at 138 pounds, gaining valuable experience against a deep regional field.

Earlier in the Season
Davenport saw several strong individual performances during the 2025-26 season, including in its dual against Albion. Root highlighted the Panthers' effort with an impressive 34-second pin at 131 pounds, showcasing her ability to score quickly and decisively. Niedzielski (138) and Adrianna Soria (145) also contributed victories, helping Davenport secure key points in the middle of the lineup.
