Panthers Pick Up First Win of 2026 in High-Scoring Affair

LIVONIA, Mich. – Davenport battled through a back-and-forth contest Saturday afternoon, rallying multiple times before ultimately taking down Madonna 17-16 in a high-scoring affair.

After falling behind 3-0, Jayden Ashley scored the first goal of the contest for the Panthers at the 7:35 mark. Less than a minute later, Ashley struck again, trimming the deficit to one (3-2).

Ashley remained hot in the first quarter, scoring two more goals, tying the game at four apiece.
After falling behind by three again, Tommy Becker and Luke Eichbauer found the back of the net, again trimming the Crusaders' lead to one (7-6). Griffin Poll scored the final goal of the opening half to tie the game 9-9 heading into the break.

A goal from Eichbauer in the third quarter gave the Panthers their first lead of the game.
Charlie Fritz gave DU a two-point advantage (13-11) in the final quarter off an assist by Ashley. Down the stretch, with the game tied at 15-15, Luke Fritz and Ashley each scored a goal to seal the game in the final minutes.

Ashley led the squad with 10 points (seven goals and three assists), doing so on 11 shot attempts. Eichbauer added four goals and an assist, while Luke Fritz had one goal and three assists.

Sean House played the entire game in net for DU, accumulating nine saves in the victory.

Davenport returns to action on February 20 when the Panthers face Lewis. Opening faceoff is set for 3 p.m. ET (2 p.m. CT) in Romeoville, Ill.
