Dominate Fourth Quarter Helps Panthers Cruise Past Dragons in Season Opener

TIFFIN, Ohio — The Davenport women's lacrosse team secured a decisive 21-10 victory over Tiffin on Saturday, Feb. 14. Davenport's fourth-quarter surge, which they out-scored the Dragons 11-1 and registered six power-play goals to help seal the victory.

Tiffin opened the game with a free position goal by Lauren Walsh at 12:46. Dana Shehadeh extended the Dragons' lead with another goal through a free position shot at 4:46. Brianna Rodriguez scored the first goal of the season for DU, finding the net at 3:31. Tiffin's Kenna Wigginton scored while the team was man-up at 2:51, but Davenport quickly countered with Alyssa Bird scoring at 2:17, assisted by Mika Kulynych. Ava Clark tied the contest at 3-3 with a goal at 0:52 off an assist by Jenna Gillis.

Alyssa Bird scored conductive goals in the second quarter, both assisted by Jade Remacle, taking a 5-4 lead at 10:35. After a goal by the Dragons, Davenport regained the lead with a man-up goal from Jenna Gillis, assisted by Lexi Fleischer, at 3:38, ending the quarter 6-5 in favor of the Panthers.

Remacle opened the scoring in the third quarter for Davenport with a man-up goal at 11:46, extending the DU lead. Clark quickly followed with a goal at 10:46 to boost the score to 8-5. Davenport's Elly Teliczan scored twice, with her second goal at 5:50 assisted by Mika Kulynych, increasing the lead to 10-7. Tiffin fought back with two goals, ending the quarter with Davenport narrowly ahead, 10-9.

Davenport dominated the fourth quarter, starting with Addison Roe's man-up goal at 14:37, assisted by Alyssa Bird. Brianna Rodriguez followed up with back-to-back goals, the first at 13:18, assisted by Jade Remacle, and the second at 12:40, also assisted by Bird. Despite a goal from Lauren Walsh for the Dragons at 11:43, Davenport's offense continued to surge. Jade Remacle scored twice more, with Alyssa Bird and Kacie Stolarek each tallying goals as well. Mika Kulynych added two goals, one assisted by Roe, pushing Davenport's lead to 21-10 by the end of the quarter.
