Strong Second Half Pushes Panthers Past Golden Bears

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Davenport University women's lacrosse team secured a 10–6 victory over Concordia-St. Paul on Friday (March 27) at the DU Turf Field. The Panthers used a strong second half to secure the victory, securing a 10-6 victory over the Golden Bears.

Alyssa Bird struck first at 11:41 with a free position goal, marking the first score of the game and putting the Panthers ahead 1-0. The Golden Bears responded with a goal at 5:21 to tie the game. Davenport's goalie, Isabelle Bonillo, made crucial saves throughout the quarter, while the Golden Bears' Marge Lucio also held firm in goal, resulting in a 1–1 tie at the end of the first quarter.

The Golden Bears secured the lead early in the second quarter with a player-down goal at 14:08. DU responded at 13:33 when Elly Teliczan scored a player-up goal, assisted by Gabby Basha, leveling the score. The Golden Bears regained the lead at 8:58 

Davenport capitalized early in the third quarter with Bird scoring off a pass from Basha at 12:54. Jade Remacle added another goal at 11:25, assisted by Jenna Gillis, prompting a timeout by the Golden Bears. Remacle struck again with a player-down goal at 6:47, solidifying Davenport's advantage. Both teams exchanged possessions, but Davenport maintained its lead to end the quarter with a 5–4 score.

The Panthers secured a victory over the Golden Bears with a decisive fourth quarter. Kacie Stolarek responded quickly to an early goal by CSP, scoring for Davenport at 13:06. Rodriguez, assisted by Basha, followed with another goal at 7:38, shifting momentum in Davenport's favor. Addison Roe, with an assist from Mika Kulynych, extended the lead to 8–6 at 5:46, prompting a timeout from the Golden Bears. Davenport capitalized on their momentum, with Kulynych and Gillis each adding goals to seal a 10–6 win.
