Panthers Suffer First Conference Loss of 2026 Campaign

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Davenport University women's lacrosse team suffered a 14-6 loss to Northern Michigan  on Sunday (March 29) at the DU Turf Field. Despite the defeat, Davenport's defense managed 10 caused turnovers in the match up.

DU capitalized on a turnover when Jade Remacle scored the first goal of the game at 12:25, assisted by Brianna Rodriguez to take the early advantage. Northern Michigan responded with a goal at 10:54, leveling the score. The Panthers regained the lead at 6:07 when Alyssa Bird found the net with help from Jenna Gillis. However, the Wildcats tied the game at 4:07, concluding the first quarter in a 2-2 stalemate.

After heading into the half down by two (6-4), NMU shutout DU in the third quarter to take a 9-4 lead with 15 minutes remaining.

Gabby Basha stopped the cold stretch for Davenport with 3:55 remaining, assisted by Gillis.. Elly Teliczan scored Davenport's final goal at 1:40, assisted by Basha, making the final period score 14-6 in favor of Northern Michigan.
