Davenport Offense Erupts for 22 Hits in Thursday Victories

VIERA, Fla. — Davenport put together a pair of comeback victories Thursday, rallying for a 5-4 win over Concordia-St. Paul after defeating Minnesota Crookston 10-7.

The Panthers used timely hitting and late-inning offense in both contests, combining for 22 hits across the two games.

Game 1
Minnesota Crookston built an early lead, scoring once in the first inning before adding three more in the third to go ahead 4-0.

DU responded with a big fourth inning to tie the game. Alaina Schwanke singled and Madison Cole doubled before Kailyne Luna drove in the Panthers' first run. Sydney Drenth followed with a two-RBI single, and Chloe Parker added an RBI double to even the score at 4-4.

The Golden Eagles briefly regained momentum with a three-run inside-the-park home run to take a 7-4 lead.

The Panthers answered again in the fifth as Randi Robakowski and Ally Prasnjak both scored following a defensive error to pull Davenport within one run.

DU then took control in the sixth inning, scoring four runs to complete the comeback. Julia Perry delivered an RBI single before Schwanke added a two-RBI single to help push the Panthers ahead for good in the 10-7 victory.

Drenth finished with two hits and two RBIs, while Cole added two hits including a double. Robakowski scored twice and swiped a base.

Hannah Tahaney started in the circle for Davenport, throwing three innings. Kayla Widner followed with 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing just one hit to help secure the win.

Game 2
Concordia-St. Paul jumped ahead in the third inning with a three-run home run to left-center from Monty, giving the Golden Bears an early 3-0 advantage.

Davenport answered in the fourth inning as Prasnjak launched a solo home run before Parker followed later in the frame with another homer to cut the deficit to 4-2.

The Panthers continued to chip away in the sixth when Luna drove in Lexie McCarty to make it a one-run game.

Davenport completed the comeback in the seventh inning. Savanna Clark scored on a bases-loaded walk by McCarty to tie the game before Kylie Hegland drew another walk that brought home Prasnjak for the go-ahead run, sealing the 5-4 victory.
