Panthers Close Weekend with Loss to Colordia-St. Paul

ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Davenport University women's lacrosse team fell to Concordia University, St. Paul  with a final score of 17-12 at the Concordia Dome on Sunday. Despite the Panther's effort with 20 shots on goal, the Golden Bears capitalized on six player-up opportunities to secure the win.

The first quarter began with the Golden Bears getting out to a 3-0 lead in the opening nine minutes. DU responded with a goal by Gabby Basha, assisted by Jenna Gillis, at 5:50 to narrow the gap. Gillis then scored a player-up free position goal at 2:48, trimming the deficit to two (4-2) by the end of the quarter.

After a goal by CSP to open the second quarter, Davenport responded with a free position goal by Brianna Rodriguez at 12:07, putting the score at 5-3. Kacie Stolarek then gained momentum for Davenport with a draw control and subsequent goal, tightening the gap to 5-4. Jade Remacle and Mika Kulynych each added goals, assisted by Gabby Basha, to tie the game at 6-6. However, the Golden Bears scored four consecutive goals to close the opening half.

Davenport surged in the third quarter with a series of successful plays, beginning with Jenna Gillis scoring on a free position shot at 11:06. This was followed by Addison Roe, who netted another goal with an assist from Elly Teliczan at the 10:15 mark, forcing a timeout from the Golden Bears. Alyssa Bird continued the Panther's momentum with her own free position goal after a timeout at 8:29. Ava Clark later added to the tally, assisted by Brianna Rodriguez, tying the score 10-10. DU entered the final quarter trailing by two (13-11).

Three goals in the opening six minutes of the final quarter helped CSP pull away. Despite Davenport's efforts, including a goal by Alyssa Bird assisted by Jenna Gillis at 6:36, the gap remained.
