Panthers Downed by Lakers on Sunday

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Davenport University women's lacrosse team fell to Grand Valley State University (9-7, 6-0) with a decisive 18-3 loss on Sunday. 

After the Lakers scored two goals to open the game, the Panthers responded with a goal by Brianna Rodriguez at 4:31, setting the score at 2-1 in favor of GVSU. However, the Lakers scored 10 unanswered goals spanning into the second quarter. Jade Remacle put a halt to the GVSU run with a goal off an assist from Mika Kulynych with 2:34 remaining in the half.

GVSU stayed hot in the third quarter with four goals while holding DU to none.

In the final quarter, Kulynych scored the final goal of the day for DU at 7:48, after picking up a ground ball off a missed free position shot. The DU defense held GVSU to just two goals in the final period.
