Senior Day Sweep: Panthers Honor Six, Deliver Two Wins

CALEDONIA, Mich. — Senior Day set the tone at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex, as all six Davenport seniors earned starts and the Panthers (14-30, 10-12 GLIAC) responded with a doubleheader sweep of Roosevelt (10-32, 4-18 GLIAC), walking off Game 1, 1–0, before rolling to an 8–0 run-rule victory in Game 2.

Davenport honored Ashley Sturgill, Ally Prasnjak, Darby Kramp, Kailyne Luna, Kylie Hegland, and Alex Rendon prior to first pitch, and the group took the field together to open the afternoon — a fitting start to a day that balanced recognition and results.
The most emotional moment came immediately after.

Sturgill, appearing in her first game since March 28 after suffering an injury against Grand Valley State, made the start in left field and was ceremonially subbed out following the first pitch—bringing a meaningful close to her senior season.

Game 1
A pitcher's duel carried into the final inning before Davenport broke through when it mattered most.

Hannah Tahaney was dominant in the circle, tossing a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts, limiting Roosevelt to six hits across seven innings.

With the game scoreless in the seventh, the Panthers turned to their underclassmen to deliver.

Randi Robakowski worked a leadoff walk and moved into scoring position before Sydney Drenth placed a single past the Lakers second baseman to set up runners on the corners. From there, sophomore Madison Cole stepped in as a pinch hitter and delivered the game-winner—lining an RBI single through the left side to score Robakowski for the walk-off victory.

Game 2
Davenport wasted no time carrying momentum into the second game, turning in a complete performance behind an explosive offensive showing.

The Panthers struck first in the second inning, plating three runs behind Lexie McCarty's RBI triple and aggressive baserunning that helped extend the early lead to 3–0.

Davenport added to its advantage in the third, when Chloe Parker launched a two-run home run to push the lead to 5–0.

The Panthers continued to build separation in the fourth, using a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly to bring in two more runs and extend the lead to 7–0.

Parker capped the scoring in the fifth with her second home run of the game—a solo shot—securing the 8–0 run-rule victory. The sophomore finished the day with a standout performance and now leads the team with eight home runs and 23 RBIs on the season.

In the circle, Kayla Widner was in control from start to finish, tossing a one-hit shutout over five innings with six strikeouts to secure the run-rule win.

Up Next
Davenport returns to the field Sunday, hosting Parkside for a pivotal GLIAC doubleheader at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex. First pitch is set for 12:00 p.m.
With the Panthers currently sitting in fifth place in the conference standings, the matchup presents a key opportunity to strengthen their postseason positioning—or potentially move up the standings heading into the final stretch.
