ALLENDALE, Mich. - The 2026 GLIAC Outdoor Championships wrapped up on Friday with the Davenport men's track and field team placing fourth with 88 points and the women's team coming in sixth with 68 points. The meet was highlighted by three Panthers who won individual championships.
Ethan Scholten was victorious in the long jump with a new PR of 24' 1", which also hit the NCAA qualifying mark.
Julia Ott bested the field in the high jump with a height of 5' 6" but did not improve on her previous NCAA qualifying mark and is 16th in Division II.
Tess Carlson won the pole vault in her first conference meet with a height of 11' 5.25".
Davenport also found success on the track, led by
Arrionna Wallace, who placed second in the 100-meter finals with a time of 11.88 seconds.
Jaiden Young also reached the scoring range in the event, finishing sixth in 12.24 seconds. The Panthers' sprint group added a third-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay, clocking 47.41 seconds, while the 4x400-meter relay placed fourth with a time of 3:57.33.
In the throws,
Elizabeth Miller and
Jayla Procter delivered a strong one-two punch in the discus. Miller finished second with a new PR throw of 41.58 meters (136' 5"), while Procter followed in third at 41.41 meters (135' 10").
Madison Hernandez added another top-six finish for the Panthers in the hammer throw, placing fourth with a mark of 48.04 meters (157' 7") to set a new PR.Â
Hannah Fitzpatrick also earned a podium finish in the javelin, placing third with a throw of 35.48 meters (116'Â 5").
Scholten also added points on the track, finishing fourth in the 100-meter finals with a time of 10.55 seconds.
Davenport continued to score in the sprints and middle-distance events, as Malcolm Earvin placed fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.36 seconds. Lucas Van Meter added a sixth-place finish in the 800 meters, clocking 1:53.78, while Luke Oyster finished sixth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:55.35.
The Panthers also made an impact in the hurdles and relays. Adam Jorgensen finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.53 seconds, while Davenport's 4x100-meter relay placed third in 41.06 seconds. The Panthers' 4x400-meter relay (Carson Dykstra, Nikolas Shilling, Adam Jorgensen, and Malcom Earvin) also finished fourth with a time of 3:15.76 to break the school record.
In the field events, Nick Ruvalcaba earned a runner-up finish in the pole vault, clearing 4.72 meters (15' 5.75"). Andrew Otberg joined Scholten in the long jump scoring column, placing fifth with a mark of 6.95 meters (22' 9.75").
Davenport's throws group delivered several key finishes as well. Thomas Johnson placed third in the shot put with a mark of 15.49 meters (50' 10") before adding a second-place finish in the discus at 50.25 meters (164'Â 10")Â for a new PR. Chandler Griffiths also scored in the shot put, finishing fifth with a throw of 14.80 meters (48' 6.75"), while Jaden Herrick placed fourth in the javelin with a new PR mark of 49.92 meters (163' 9").
Mark Palmeter rounded out the Panthers' top performers with a strong showing in the decathlon, placing third overall with 5,791 points. Rogan Melling set the school record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:36.31.Â
