QUINCY, Ill. — Davenport (0-0-2) battled to a 2-2 draw against Quincy University (0-0-2) on Saturday at Legends Stadium. After trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Panthers came out strong in the second half, scoring twice to pull even and earn a point on the road.

The Panthers came out looking to create chances early, with Audrey Muterspaugh putting a shot wide in the fourth minute. Kyle Shelton and Laney Carlson also tested the Quincy defense as Davenport looked to find an opening. On the other end, Elizabeth Wolter kept the Panthers in the match early, making several saves, including a stop on Rebecca Rheinheimer in the ninth minute.

Quincy eventually broke through in the 24th minute when Rheinheimer found the back of the net to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead. Davenport continued to push forward, but Quincy's Devin Tracy turned away the Panthers' chances to keep the home team in front heading into halftime.

Davenport came out with renewed energy in the second half and began to turn the momentum. The Panthers were rewarded in the 65th minute when Madison Fant scored on her second shot of the match, with Shelton providing the assist to cut the deficit to 2-1.

With Davenport continuing to press, the tying goal came in the 79th minute. Autumn Wakefield scored off a corner kick from Muterspaugh to bring the Panthers level at 2-2. 

The late goal gave Davenport a chance to complete the comeback, but neither team could find a go-ahead goal before the final whistle. Wolter finished the afternoon with nine saves, helping the Panthers secure the draw despite being outshot 20-13.

Fant finished with one goal on two shots, while Shelton recorded three shots, including two on target, along with her assist. Wakefield scored on her only shot on target.

The Panthers will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 1, against Jamestown in a neutral-site matchup at 1 p.m. in Hammond, Ind.
