Davenport Earns First Win With 4-0 Shutout of Jamestown

HAMMOND, Ind. — Davenport picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday, defeating Jamestown 4-0 at a neutral site. The Panthers scored once in the first half before adding three more goals after halftime and finished the match with an 18-5 advantage in shots.

Reegan Dunn opened the scoring and finished with the game-winning goal, putting both of her shots on goal. Isabella Workman added a goal and an assist for three points, while putting two of her three shots on frame. Alyson Peterson also found the back of the net and finished with three shots, including two on goal. In goal, Elizabeth Wolter made four saves and recorded her first shutout of the season.

Davenport created several chances early, earning two corner kicks and putting shots on goal from Ella Chatfield, Dunn and Audrey Muterspaugh. The Panthers finally broke through in the 39th minute when Dunn scored at 38:10 to give Davenport a 1-0 lead heading into halftime. Wolter made one save in the opening half.

The Panthers continued to build on their lead in the second half. Peterson scored in the 52nd minute off an assist from Workman before Muterspaugh found the back of the net at 59:20, with Natalie Vance and Ryan Whitford picking up the assists. Davenport led 3-0 with just over 30 minutes remaining.

Workman capped off the scoring in the 87th minute, scoring at 86:09 to give the Panthers a 4-0 advantage. Wolter made three more saves in the second half as Davenport closed out the shutout victory.

Davenport improves to 1-0-2 on the season, while Jamestown falls to 0-1-1.

The Panthers will return home for their first home match of the season on Sunday, Sept. 6, hosting Ohio Dominican at 1 p.m. at the Farmers Insurance Athletic Complex in Caledonia, Michigan.
