Davenport Drops Conference Match at Wayne St.

DETROIT,  Mich. — Davenport fell to Wayne St. 3-0 on Sunday. The Panthers finished with 10 shots, including four on goal, while the Warriors recorded 11 shots with nine on frame.

Wayne St. scored in the opening minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Davenport recorded five shots and earned two corner kicks in the opening 45 minutes. Elizabeth Wolter made four saves in the half, with the Warriors putting four more shots on goal after Jess Clyde's early goal.

The Warriors added two goals in the second half, holding a 6-5 edge in shots. Davenport had three of its five second-half shots after the 82nd minute, with Audrey Muterspaugh and Claire Arends each putting a shot on goal. Wolter made two more saves in the second half to finish with six saves on the day.

Muterspaugh led the Panthers with four shots, including two on goal.

Davenport moves to 4-2-2 overall and 2-2-0 in GLIAC play. Wayne St. is now 6-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play.

The Panthers return home Friday, Sept. 25, to host Ferris State at 11 a.m. in Caledonia, Mich.
