Steiner hails from Grand Rapids, Michigan and graduated from Forest Hills Central in 2011. He recently graduated from Davenport with a bachelor's degree in sports management. He served as a student assistant during his four years when the team went 118-26 with two trips to the NAIA Final Four and three trips to the NAIA Elite Eight. He also was a member of the junior varsity squad for two years at DU. Steiner spent two years as an assistant coach for the West Michigan Laker AAU program under Kevin Trangali and Joe Soules as part of his internship for graduation.
Coach Paddock said, "Devin has been a pillar of our program for the last four years. If we were to give an MVP (most valuable person) during that time a vote would not be needed. Devin epitomizes everything that is good about college basketball and people in general. Devin is the hardest working person I've been around. He will do any job no matter how big or small and NEVER asks why. There isn't a person that is more willing to put the team before himself then Devin. We are incredibly fortunate to have Devin stay with our program and we look forward to him growing as a coach and helping us all grow as people."
