Rick Albro

Rick Albro finished his third campaign at the helm of the Davenport University women's basketball program in 2019-20, a season that saw the Panthers go 7-21 overall and 2-18 in GLIAC play. In 2018-19. Albro's second as the head coach, DU finished with an overall record of 5-22 including 3-17 in GLIAC play. After the conclusion of the season, junior center, Jenna Falkenberg, became Davenport's first All-GLIAC recipient as she was named to the second team after averaging 14.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Off the court, the Panthers continued to do well in the classroom as six student-athletes finished with at least a 3.0 grade-point average.

During the 2017-18 season, Davenport ventured into the world of NCAA Division II and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action for the first time. The Panthers finished the season with an 8-20 overall record and 6-14 mark in the conference. The team claimed the eighth-spot in the GLIAC Tournament and lost in the quarterfinals to then-No. 1 Ashland University. The Panthers excelled in the classroom as 11 of the student-athletes recorded a 3.0 or higher grade-point average. DU finished the season ranked third in the conference in steals per game (9.7) and blocks per game (4.4). Following the 2017-18 season, Albro was inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame. 

Albro is the fourth head coach in the program's history and inherited a program that had a .837 (427-83) winning percentage since its inception in 2002-03.

Albro came to Davenport from Western Michigan University where he served as an assistant coach from October 2015 until his hiring at DU. His primary duties included individual skill development and defensive game planning. He also had an active role in recruiting, academics and day-to-day operations under head coach Shane Clipfell.

Albro was also on the sidelines for the University of Detroit-Mercy women's basketball program during the 2014-15 season for the Titans. Prior to working with Detroit-Mercy, he spent four years (2009-13) as an athletic director at Grand Rapids Northview High School in which during the last three years he coached the girls' basketball program.

Albro's other collegiate coaching stops include an assistant position at Michigan State University under Suzy Merchant (2007-10) and an assistant men's role at Cleveland State University (2003-06). He spent the 1990 through 2003 campaigns as the head men's basketball coach at Aquinas College. In addition, Albro was inducted into the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan (BCAM) Hall of Fame in 2014.

Albro graduated from Western Michigan in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration and earned his master's degree in Education Administration from Central Michigan in 1985.
