Meghan Mateus

Meghan (Scanlon) Mateus was named as an assistant coach for the Davenport women’s volleyball program on August 25, 2021.

Mateus played collegiately at Grand Valley State from 2006-10. During her time in Allendale, the Lakers made it to the NCAA Elite Eight in both 2007 and 2010 as well as the NCAA Final Four in 2008. In 2009 and 2010, she was a starter and played in every set for the Lakers. In 2009, she led the team in assists (580), service aces (34) and finished third in digs (202). In her senior year, 2010, Mateus led the team in assists (694), was named team captain and GLIAC Honorable Mention while leading GVSU to that second NCAA Elite Eight appearance. Mateus still ranks 10th in assists per set (4.91) in the program's career record book and was named GLIAC All-Academic in 2010 as well.

As a team, Grand Valley State amassed a record of 135-32 (.808 winning percentage) including a 77-10 (.885) mark in GLIAC play with three GLIAC Regular Season Championships (2006-08) and a pair of GLIAC Tournament Championships (2007-08).

Mateus coached AAU volleyball for the Michigan Volleyball Academy from 2006-18 at various age levels and in 2009, led the MVA 13 Black Team to the program's first ever National Championship.
