Biography
2021 (Sr.): One of four Panthers to play in all 28 of the team's matches (Kreiger, Herr, Corstange) and played in all but one of the Panthers' 107 total sets...recorded more service aces than any other Panther with 27 after tallying just four in her first three seasons combined...finished third on the team in total points with 241.5, the most in her career by 63.5...was third among Panthers in kills with 198, a new career high for the Indiana native...earned GLIAC South Player of the Week honors for the first time in her career on Oct. 4 after hitting a blistering .453 in two Davenport victories thanks to 25 kills and only one error on 53 total attacks...after 12 kills and a .462 hitting percentage on Friday, Oct. 1 (3-1 over Parkside) followed by 13 kills and a .444 attack clip on Saturday, Oct. 2 (3-0 over Purdue Northwest), Groves racked up at least 10 kills and a .400 hitting percentage in back-to-back matches for the first time in her career...racked up double-digit kills in seven matches including a season high 13 on Oct. 2 at home against Purdue Northwest as part of the Player of the Week performances...hit at least .400 in three of those seven matches including the two Player of the Week outings as well as a .476 clip on Oct. 30 at Grand Valley State with 12 kills and only two errors on 21 total attacks...tied her career high in blocks with three on two occasions including Sept. 10 against Daemen and Oct. 22 against Northwood...named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team.
2020 (Jr.): Experienced a breakout campaign as a junior as she was one of five Panthers to appear in all 18 of the team's matches and did so with 66 of 67 sets played...featured on an All-GLIAC Team for the first time in her career as she was named Second-Team All-GLIAC on April 8...prior to this season, the Walkerton, Ind. native had appeared in 28 matches in her career and accumulated 107 kills in those 28 outings; in the 2021 season alone, Groves has sent home 169 kills in just 18 matches while hitting .222, more than six points better than her career hitting percentage of .156 entering the season...Groves has also tallied 10 or more kills in a match eight times this season, something she did only once in her first two seasons combined...the John Glenn High School product has also stepped up her blocking defense with 15 blocks in 18 matches as opposed to 11 in 22 matches as a sophomore...went on a five-match stretch in which she registered 10 or more kills in each of them including a career-high 17 on March 20 against Wayne State in which she had just three errors on 41 swings for a .341 hitting percentage...hit an absurd .524 in the first match of that streak (Wayne State - March 19) with 12 kills and only one error on 21 attacks...named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team.
2019 (So.): Played in 22 of the team's 27 matches with nine matches started and 56 total sets of action...finished with 106 kills, five assists, four service aces, 39 digs, and 11 total blocks...broke out for 13 kills and a .333 hitting percentage on Oct. 25 at Saginaw Valley State...named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team.
2018 (Fr.): Played in seven sets and six matches... recorded one kill... added one dig and kill... recorded her lone kill against Lee on Aug. 25.
High School: Prepped at John Glenn High School...played for coach Megan Mackowiak...recorded 1,481 kills...281 service aces...1,087 digs...197 digs in her career...four year Offensive Award winner...First Team NIC All-Conference two years...Second Team NIC All-Conference one year...Honorable-Mention NIC All-Conference one year...MVP senior year...played in the North vs South Indiana All-Star game three years...won Triton Tournament all four years...made it to sectional finals three years.
Personal: Daughter of Chery and Damon Groves...majoring in Medical Case Management...born on May 19...favorite movie is Benchwarmers.
