Grand Rapids, Mich. - After postponing their game with WMU earlier in the week due to the conditions outside, the weather outside still did not cooperate, but Davenport and Calvin College battled through the snow to complete their cross-town matchup. Calvin used two balanced halves to down DU 6-1 on a snowy and cold night at Forest Hills Northern High School.
The women's lacrosse team was hoping to keep up the momentum after their first ever victory on Saturday at Ball State but after a postponement of their game with WMU on Tuesday, the Panthers came out cold in the first 15 minutes on Thursday. The defense came up with some big stops early on before Calvin posted the only three goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead into the break. The Knights scored quickly to open the second half before Lydia Bedford scored the lone goal for the host Panthers on an assist from Daniella Bugli. Calvin outshot DU 24-8 and controlled the ball for most of the game but the Panthers defense was outstanding as Shaye Bradley posted 14 saves on the night.
The loss drops DU to 1-3 on the year as they will now take on Ferris State in Big Rapids on April 3, 2008.
