GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Davenport's D2 team ended a 4-game slide tonight with a 5-2 win over GMHL foe Miami (OH). DU scored three 3rd period goals and turned a tied game heading into the third into their 10th win of the year. The 10-6 Panthers will host Miami on Saturday at 7:00 PM.
After falling in three straight games over the weekend in the Siena Showcase, DU got back to conference play on Friday night and posted a big 3rd period to down the RedHawks of Miami 5-2.
Paul Ziemke (Caledonia, Mich.) and Adam Thomas (Kentwood, Mich.) scored the first two goals for the Panthers as they were tied with Miami 2-2 going into the final 20 minutes.
The third period was where DU finally started clicking as a unit as they scored three unanswered goals to take the win 5-2.
Bobby Collar (Brighton, Mich.) scored and was joined by Jesse Carter (Amherstburg, Ontario) who posted two goals for the final outcome.
Davenport is now 10-6 on the year and 2-1 in GMHL play. The two teams will hook up on Saturday night at 7:00 PM at Patterson Ice Center and it can be heard on the Davenport Athletics Network (DAN).
