GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - A two goal difference for the second straight night helped the Panthers down the Buckeyes and sweep the season series as Davenport won 4-2 on Saturday night. The Panthers are now 15-9 overall and 6-1-0 in GMHL play.
The goals were much harder to come by tonight after finishing with a combined 10 the night before as the two teams went into each intermission deadlocked at 1-1 and 2-2.
Scoring for Davenport in the first two periods were Bobby Collar (Brighton, Mich.) and Kevin Brojek (Sterling Heights, Mich.).
The offense and defense then clicked at the same time in the closing 20 minutes as DU got goals from Bobby Collar and Jeff Slusser (Kentwood, Mich.) while netminder Scott Knight (Grand Rapids, Mich.) stopped all OSU shots.
The win lifts Davenport back into 1st place in the league standings as they will not play again until January 8th and 9th when they welcome Penn State to Patterson Ice Center.
