INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The DU men's basketball team dropped their second game in a row tonight as they fell 74-53 to Brescia University at the Marian University Holiday Tournament in Indianapolis. Davenport, now 10-4 on the year, will face Culver Stockton on Saturday at 1:00 PM.

Playing their first game without leading scorer and leading rebounder Nathan Cox, the Panthers struggled from the get go on Friday night as they fell behind 5-2 early on.

Brescia would eventually push the lead up to as many as nine (21-12) with 8:04 remaining, but DU went on a 5-0 run with two buckets from Max Prendergast (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and a lay-up from Gabe VanderJagt (Rockford, Mich.)

The Panthers however were unable to sustain the comeback as BU scored 9 of the final 13 points to go into the locker room leading by nine at 30-21 as Davenport gave up five long range shots compared to making only one.

To start the second half, DU jumped into a full court press and got two quick buckets from Mike Tilmon (Detroit, Mich.) and James Nelson (New Haven, Mich.) to cut the lead to five but Brescia countered with a long ball again and the lead hovered around 6-10 for the next 8:00.

With just under ten minutes to play, the Bearcats got eight straight points without DU scoring and upped their lead to 17 at 54-37. The lead would continue to grow as the final minutes clicked away and DU found themselves on their worse loss in over two years.

DU struggled offensively for most of the game as they finished the night shooting only 41% (21/51) from the floor. The Panthers were held to just 53 points which is just over 30 points below their season average of 82.4 as they also struggled from the foul line going 7/16 (43.8%).

Leading the offense for Davenport was freshman Max Prendergast with 12 points in 27 minutes of action but he was the only Panther to find double-digits. Junior David Thompson (Grandville, Mich.) scored four late points to chip in with 9 for the game.

Davenport will take on Culver-Stockton University on Saturday in the consolation game that is scheduled for a 1:00 PM tip. It will be the first matchup in school history with the team from Missouri.
