GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Looking to extend their winning streak to eight games the DU Women's Lax team jumped out to a quick lead and defeated Hope College 19-7. Davenport now stands at 11-6 on the year with a trip to South Bend, IN stated for the weekend.
In what has already been an interesting year in terms of weather for the women's lacrosse team, mother nature made it difficult again on Tuesday afternoon. With showers moving in and coming down harder as the game went on, Davenport did not let it affect them as they jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead after Hope scored the opening goal.
With the score 13-2 at halftime, the Lady Panthers came out hot again in the second half led by attacker Jessica Talcott. A late goal with only 3.3 seconds left ended the scoring for the game with DU coming out on top 19-7.
Helena Stieg led all scorers in the game as she posted 5 goals goals while Daniella Bugli picked up 8 ground balls in the game. Shaye Bradley got the win in goal again for Davenport as they now are 11-6 on the year.
DU will take on Ball State, Bowling Green and St. Mary's College this weekend.
