DEERFIELD, Ill. - For the second consecutive day, the women's soccer team played a strong game but fell victim to a lack of offense as they fell 1-0 to Trinity International. The Panthers now stand at 0-2 on the year and will face Bethel College on Friday, August 28.

After coming up one goal short in Friday night's season opening setback to Illinois Tech, the Lady Panthers made a strong showing against a solid Trojan squad that defeated DU last year by the score of 5-0.

The 2009 game was much closer as both teams played to a draw in the first half with DU goaltender Catherine Howard (Lowell, Mich.) leading the charge with some solid saves. The offense did manage to get some good opportunties and none were better than Daniella Bugli's (Shelby, Mich.) late in the second half with DU trailing 1-0.

Bugli got the pass from the side and hit a great shot from 20 feet out but the bar clanked off the cross bar and Trinity took posession. DU was unable to muster any more good chances as they fell 1-0.

Davenport now stands at 0-2-0 on the year and they will travel to Mishawaka, Ind. next Friday for a matchup with the Pilots of Bethel College. Game time is set for 7:00 PM.
