Box Score
LYNCHBURG, Va. - For the second night in a row, DU was unable to finish the final period strong as they gave up four goals in the final twenty minutes to drop to 0-2 on the year with a 7-3 loss to Liberty. Davenport will now have 12 days before hosting GVSU on October 2.
After seeing their big lead last night go to waste, the Panthers again came out strong against one of their biggest rivals but the ending was exactly the same.
DU came out firing again for the second straight night but found themselves trailing 1-0 late in the first but two quick goals gave DU a 2-1 lead after one.
DU built a 3-2 lead late in the second period as Adam Thomas (Kentwood, Mich.) provided some great offense for the young Panthers as he notched his fourth goal of the season.
Unfortunately, the Panthers allowed a late goal in the end of the second which tied the game and gave the host squad the momentum. Less than 3:30 into the third, Liberty scored again and it was all down hill from there as Davenport allowed three more goals to fall 7-3.
The two game skid matches the longest in the last two years, but DU will host Grand Valley State on Friday, Octovber 2 in Davenport's annual Homecoming Game.

Davenport Head Coach Paul Lowden
on his team's defense early in the season
"Until we learn to play 60 minutes of hockey we will struggle. We won two National Championships by posting the best goals against average. We have a lot of work to do in the next two weeks. I believe we can be the best defensive team in the country. We will not accomplish that unless everyone on the team buys into it."
