Box Score

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Rookie Marc Thompson recorded a hat-trick tonight as he led the D2 Panthers to a dominating 10-4 win over Ferris State. The win comes in the first game at home in over two weeks as they improve to 7-1 in GMHL play and 22-12 overall.

After finishing the ACHA D1 swing through Arizona against the Sun Devils and Lindenwood at 2-2, DU returned to league action and finished off a seasons weep of the Bulldogs of Ferris State.

DU fell behind 1-0 early but rebounded to score three straight goals with the first coming off the stick of Kevin Brojek (Sterling Heights, Mich.). The score was 1-1 after the first period, but DU exploded for four goals in the second.

DU took the lead for good on a goal from Clay Mattson (Livonia, Mich.) which was closely followed by the first of three on the night for Marc Thompson (Traverse City, Mich.).

Ferris then scored to make it a one goal game, but DU got two more from Bobby Collar (Brighton, Mich.) and Thompson to lead 5-2 after two periods.

The scoring just kept coming for Davenport as they put up five more goals in the final period while allowing only two for the final score of 10-4.

Scott Knight (Grand Rapids, Mich.) got the win in net for DU as they prepare to take on rival Grand Valley State on Friday and Saturday. Friday night's game will be at Georgetown Ice Arena with the Saturday game being held at Patterson.
