Feb. 4, 2010

Box Score

ROCHESTER, Mich. - The "Good Luck Duck" series renewed tonight in Rochester as the host Grizzlies got one leg up with a 3-0 win. With the loss, Davenport falls to 23-14 on the year as they will host Oakland on Friday night at 8:00 PM at Patterson.

A lone power play goal from the host Grizzlies was the only scoring in the opening period as DU was unable to convert on three of their own extra-man opportunities. The Panthers finished the period on the power play but were unable to convert after many good chances.

DU came out with a little more energy in the second period but it did not relay into any goals as the Grizzlies defense was stingy once again. OU then struck on another power play opportunity halfway into the period as they took a 2-0 lead.

The Grizzlies then opened the 3rd period back on the power play but DU killed it off which gave them some much needed confidence for the remainder of the 20 minutes. The Panthers kept the puck deep in the OU defensive zone but were unable to get a break after giving themselves numerous chances in front of the Grizzlies' net.

After a long delayed penalty in which the Grizzlies set up a six on five, Oakland took a commanding 3-0 lead with just less than five minutes to play and that would end up being the final tally of the game with the host winning game one of the three-game series.

DU falls to 23-14 on the year as they will host Oakland on Friday night at 8:00 PM at Patterson.
