Box Score

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - DU posted a 13-9 win over Hope College in their home opener today as they improve to 2-5 on the season. The Lady Panthers have won two of their last three games and will host John Carroll on Saturday.

DU got off to a fast start as Michon Moline (Rockford, Mich.) and Sarah Gombar (Saginaw, Mich.) scored two quick goals to put DU up 2-0. Hope then scored the next two and five of the next six to take a 5-3 lead.

Davenport hung tough though and turned up the defensive pressure and the offense came through with five of the ginal seven goals of the first half to tie the score 7-7.

Scoring for the Lady Panthers in the final 10:30 were Valerie Carr (Holt, Mich.), Jessica Talcott (Ada, Mich.), Gombar and Cat Howard (Lowell, Mich.).

Defense and goaltending then came up huge int he second half as DU limited the Flying Dutch to just two goals while posting six of their own for the final outcome of 13-9.

Gombar added two more to give her four in the game and Moline added two more as well as the freshman finished with three goals.

Kansas Beute (Hudsonville, Mich.) picked up her second win in net as she finished with six saves.

DU will host John Carroll on Saturday at 4:00 PM.
