KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Lizzie Paul continued her hot start to the season, but her one goal was not enough as the Lady Panthers suffered their first loss of the season 2-1 to Kalamazoo College.  DU will return to the pitch on Saturday when they host Bethel College (Ind.).

Tuesday was a much different story than their previous game in which Davenport scored 16 goals on 24 shots on net as the Hornets of Kalamazoo grounded the Lady Panthers' offense to hand DU their first loss of the season.

The host Hornets held DU to just 10 shots, with only three coming on net, and allowed only a penalty kick goal to preserve the one goal victory.

Kalamazoo got things started in the 43rd minute and then added a second goal just after halftime to put Davenport into a big hole.  Having never trailed for the first five games of the year, DU tried to claw their way back in and got within one when Lizzie Paul (England)scored her 12th of the season at the 74:18 mark.

Unfortunately the Hornets keeper was sharp throughout as DU was unable to post any other goals and ultimately fell by the score of 2-1.

Jessica Bergsma (Jenison, Mich.) still had a solid night as the freshman finished with seven saves but suffered her first loss of her career.

Davenport will look to rebound when they host Bethel College of Indiana on Saturday.  Game time is set for 12:00 PM at the Turf Field and there will be live stats throughout the game.
