ADRIAN, Mich. – The Lady Panthers traveled to Siena Heights to take on the #2 seed in the semi-final of the WHAC tournament and fell short to the Saints 2-1. Letesha Cannonier recorded her third goal of the tournament to tie the game in the first half but DU was unable to produce any offense after and saw their 2011 season come to a conclusion.

It didn't take long for the host Saints to take an early 1-0 lead as 1st Team All-Conference selection Hannah Ulrich hit a shot from 25 yards out that found the right corner of the net. In the next 22 minutes both teams recorded just one shot a piece when Letesha Cannonier tied the score up at 1-1 ten minutes before half.

Tied 1-1 at halftime both teams had six shots in the period with Siena dominating the corner kicks 5-0.

The game stayed tied 1-1 until Siena took the lead at the 61:17 mark 2-1 after capitalizing on a free kick that was mishandled by Catherine Howard in goal. With the lead the Saints' defense shut down the Panthers for the remainder of the half holding them to just four shots with three of those coming in the final ten minutes.

Tam Grzybowski hit the crossbar and both Paige Eli and Abbie Prince had opportunities in the final minutes but were unable to capitalize and suffered the 2-1 loss. Howard picked up the loss in goal while Siena posted eleven corner kicks compared to just three for DU.

The loss ends the Panthers record win season with them finishing 11-8-1 on the year and third place in the WHAC. Head coach Chris Allen and his staff will graduate just one senior, Britteny Willis, and will return all five of their top scorers.

Post-Game Quotes - Head Coach Chris Allen

"It was a really tough loss for us. We did some things we were happy with, but overall didn't quite get into our groove. We had three good chances that could have changed everything, hitting the post twice and hitting over the bar late on. We've had the worst luck with injuries this year and credit to most of our players for giving it their best shot. It's really sad Britteny Willis leaves us, she has been a great piece of our program. We have a young team and I hope they take this experience and build on it for next season."
