Davenport Suffers 4-0 Road Loss to Judson University

Box Score Box Score

ELGIN, Ill. – The Davenport Lady Panthers dropped their second game of the season today falling 4-0 to a tough Judson University team. Davenport is now 4-2 on the year and will return to action on Saturday when they travel down to Ohio to take on the University of Rio Grande.

After receiving votes this week in the NAIA Top 25 poll, Davenport was unable to keep up defensively with the Eagles allowing two goals each half.

In the first Judson jumped on the score board right away at the 3:20 mark with a header from Jordan Rossi. The Eagles capitalized on another missed mark by the Panther defense to put another goal in at the 8:00 mark and take the 2-0 lead.

In the second half the Panthers were once again sluggish on defense and unable to produce any offense with only three shots in the period. DU gave up an own goal at the 73:00 mark and another Judson goal three minutes later to go down 4-0 with less than 15 minutes left to play.

Davenport would ultimately be unable to get any offense going finishing with just seven shots overall compared to Judson's 16. Catherine Howard suffered the loss in net for DU bringing her overall record to 3-2 on the year.

The Panthers will be in action again on September 10th when they travel down to Ohio to take on the University of Rio Grande. This will be the first ever match-up of these two teams with the game slated to kick off at 2:00pm.

Coach Allen's Comments:

On the play of his defense – “We did exactly what we did against Trinity Christian. The defending was atrocious and we have a lot of work to be done.”

On the positives of a long season – “One of the only few positives we can take from today is that it is a long season and we have the opportunity to put this right on Saturday in Ohio. It's definitely time for us to step up  and how well we do this year is 100% in our own hands”
