Lady Panthers Look to Earn 50th Win This Week at Siena Heights, Host Marygrove

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Davenport women's soccer team will be searching for its 50th win in program history when it wraps up it's four-match roadstand at Siena Heights Wednesday at 4 p.m. before beginning a season-most three-match homestand Saturday at Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference newcomer Marygrove Saturday at 4 p.m. The Lady Panthers have 48 wins since the program's first year of competition in 2006.

Saturday's match will part of a doubleheader as the men's team follows the women's team with their match against Madonna at 7 p.m.

The Lady Panthers opened WHAC play last Saturday on the right track with a 3-0 win over newcomer Lawrence Tech.  Several Panthers look to be heating up as Letesha Cannonier and Natalie McHale have found the back of the net in the last two matches, while Alyssa Malone is looking to build that same momentum Cannonier and McHale have after scoring her first goal since Aug. 30. Lizzie Paul has also been a major contributor the last two matches, scoring two goals and notching two assists.

The reigning WHAC tournament champion Saints opened WHAC play last Wednesday with a 3-2 loss at Indiana Tech but bounced back with a 3-0 home victory against Madonna last Saturday. The Saints also began a season-most five-match homestand. With 12 points each, Alexis Donnelly and Alessia Vagnini pace the Saints in goals and assists, respectively. Donnelly has five goals and Vagnini has four assists. Crystal Wilcoxen has been the player between the posts for a majority of the season. She's made 25 saves and carries a 0.84 goals-against average.

Marygrove is coming off have won its match against Purdue University Calumet 3-0 last Thursday and played to a 1-1 draw at Concordia in its WHAC debut. The Mustangs are having a good season. They dropped their first two matches before going 5-2-1 in their last eight matches. Jessica McClendon has been the leader of the Mustangs in goals (4) and points (10). Right behind her is Cheyenne York, who with seven points leads the team in shots (19) and shots on goal (17).
