GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Last Thursday night was the annual Midnight Madness celebration at Davenport University for the start of the men's and women's basketball seasons, but it became so much more for Assistant MBB coach Craig Heatherly and Head Dance coach Linaya Hass as the DU mascot Pounce, also known as Craig, proposed to his girlfriend. The night was caught on camera and is now making national news. Check out the various outlets that have covered the night.

The 2012-13 Men's and Women's basketball season is off with a bang as Midnight Madness turned into a marriage proposal last Thursday night at the Davenport University Student Center. Craig Heatherly, disguised as the Panthers' mascot, “Pounce,” at the university's Midnight Madness kickoff event for the basketball season, arranged for a dance-off against Hass, Davenport's head dance coach. After he feigned an injury and she approached him, he threw off the costume's head and proposed. She said yes, jumped into his arms as players, cheerleaders and the crowd spilled onto the court to congratulate them.
