Women’s Lacrosse Gets First Win of Season

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Davenport Women's Lacrosse team got their first win of the season Saturday afternoon defeating Robert Morris-Chicago 21-11. Michon Moline, Valerie Carr, and Kaitlyn Lowden each netted five goals for the Panthers in the win. Davenport will be in action again on Tuesday night when they host Calvin College at 7:00 PM.
 
Davenport came out firing and quickly built a 7-0 lead less than nine minutes into the first half. Six different Panthers scored during that run. Robert Morris responded with two goals with their first coming on a free position shot.
 
The teams traded goals the rest of the period with Michon Moline picking up the hat trick just 13 minutes into the game. With a few second left in the Kaitlyn Lowden scored her third goal to give the Panthers a 14-8 halftime lead.
 
The Panthers didn't let up in the second half outscoring the Eagles 7-3. Valerie Carr, after scoring two in the first half, scored three of the Panthers last four goals in the second half to close out the 21-11 win for the Panthers.
 
Moline, Carr, and Lowden each finished with five goals. Sarah Gombar (3), Simone Hairston (2), and Schae Hoebeke (1) also added goals for the Panthers. Amanda Prins picked up the win in net for Davenport making six saves.
 
Davenport will be in action again on Tuesday night when they host Calvin College at 7:00 PM in a non-conference game.
