DelawareScouting Report
Davenport's second opponent at the National Championships will be the Delaware Blue Hens. Delaware received an automatic bid to the national tournament by winning the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League (ESCHL) regular season, they then went on to win the conference tournament.
Offensively, Delaware is led by Ryan McDonald. McDonald leads the team with 42 points. His 19 goals, six of which came on the power play, is tied for a team high while he has also accumulated 23 assists. Christian Tasker, who leads the team with 26 assists, is second on the team with 39 points. The Blue Hens are similar to Davenport in the fact that both teams have a balanced offense with several guys having 30+ points and several players with double-digit goals scored.
SJ Broadt started 28 games for Delaware accumulating a 25-2-1 record. Broadt comes in with a solid .926 save percentage with a low 2.07 goal against average. Over the last four games, Nick Casella has also seen playing time in net starting two of the four games. Casella gave up three goals in a win against West Chester University and then seven goals in a loss to Rhode Island.
Coaching Scouting Report - Head Coach Phil Sweeney
"Delaware has four solid lines and a good defensive core. We will have to be very responsible with the puck, with our changes and defensively to win this game."
"I like how we match up against Delaware. There are a few things that we have been working on for this game and hopefully it will pay off."
"To win a national champoinship you have to beat good teams. Delaware is good, hopefully getting our jitters out of the way against Drexel will help us against Delaware. It's going to be a great game!"
