Box Score

OLIVET, Mich. - Davenport raced out to a 10-3 first half advantage and got five goals from Taylor Balch as they defeated Olivet College in a non-conference game on Wednesday evening.  The team is now 3-4 on the year having won their last three games and will host Midland University in NWLL action on Friday at 3:00pm.

The Lady Panthers were the first to score and would retain the lead throughout the rest of the game.  Sarah Gombar was able to convert on a free position shot for the first goal of the evening.  Their biggest lead of the game would come at halftime leading 10-3.  Other players scoring in the first half were Balch (3), Michon Moline (2), Kaitlyn Lowden, Schae Hoebeke, and Lexi Kruse (2).

Davenport would add four more goals in the second half, but the most impression statistic from the second half was the Lady Panthers allowing only two Olivet scores.  Amanda Prins came up with five saves in the second half keeping the Comets from catching up.  Balch added two more goals in the second half.  Hoebeke scored one and Valerie Carr added the final goal.

Post-Game Comments

Head Coach Celeste Shefferly on the play of the defense: "Holding Olivet to five goals today was a huge deal for us.  Letesha Cannonier completely shut down their number one scorer defensively and played an outstanding game.  Letesha excelled at keeping her out of an offensive opportunity and causing her to turn the ball over and take bad shots.  Additionally, Michon Moline came up with three ground balls out of the 8 meter which prevented 3 more shots on goal.  Amanda Prins also played great having 11 saves and coming up with a few big saves right in front of the goal."
