GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Lady Panthers lacrosse team returned home for a NWLL against Midland University today.  Despite lightning in the area early in the game and a late surge by the Warriors, Davenport walked away with a 14-12 victory to raise their conference record to 3-4.  The Lady Panthers are 4-4 overall and travel to Alma College tomorrow.

In the first twelve minutes of the game, each team exchanged two goals apiece.  Michon Moline scored both goals for DU.  With the scored tied at 2-2, there was a 30-minute lightning delay.

After the break, Midland went on a 2-1 run making the score 5-3.  The Lady Panthers then put together a 6-1 run to end the first half 9-6.  Taylor Balch had three goals in the first half, while Kaitlyn Lowden contributed two.

The second half was a game of runs as Midland tried to mount a comeback.  Davenport started with a 2-0 run followed by a 3-0 run by Midland to pull the Warriors within two scores.  Balch then added back-to-back goals to extend the Panthers' lead back to four.  The Warriors continued to battle and got as close as 13-12.

Valerie Carr found the back of the net late in the game to give the Panthers a more comfortable advantage as they ran out the clock.  Behind Balch's five goals, Moline added three, while Lowden and Carr finished with two each.
